Nebula Team Releases New Features and Fixes

Nebula users may have noticed several new code modifications have recently been released targeted at improving overall user experience with Nebula. These modificiations include new features and various stability-enahncing fixes.

Microsoft Windows users will be pleased to learn that Nebula can now run Windows server instances. Previously, Nebula had focused on the ability to run Unix-like operating systems such as Ubuntu and CentOS. Now, with the addition of Windows support, users have a broader range of tools to assist them in their research, analysis, or engineering projects. Benefits of the alpha release of Nebula’s Windows support include volume storage, bundling of Windows images, and improved network performance.

Nebula, a pacesetter for Federal cloud computing, is also taking steps to expand compatibility with the open source efforts. Updated with modifications from the second OpenStack (Bexar) release, Nebula is now is better able to contribute to, and benefit from, the development community.

Other new features include:

  • Launching common images is now faster
  • Better dashboard authentication enforcement
  • Account lockout after consecutive Dashboard login failures
  • Knowledge-base search
  • Stability improvements

Recent Nebula fixes include:

  • Ability to save profile without changing password
  • Kernel and ramdisk are now grabbed when bundled
  • Community settings such Jabber ID and website URL can now be saved
  • Improvements to volume control
  • Forum search function surfaced
